端午节最初为古代百越地区崇拜龙图腾的部族举行图腾祭祀的节日。Dragon Boat Festival is the first ancient Moon tribe dragon totem worshiping day
百越之地春秋之前有在农历五月初五以龙舟竞渡形式举行部落图腾祭祀的习俗。Before Spring and Autumn and Warring States Period, the tradition of dragon boat competition on Dragon Boat Day already starts.
后因战国时期的楚国诗人屈原在该日抱石跳汨罗江自尽，为树立忠君爱国标签将端午作为纪念屈原的节日；
After the period of the Warring, States Chu poet Qu Yuan jumped into the Miluo River with holding a stone to prove his innocent & patriotism. Since this accident, Dragon Boat Festival was established to commemorate Qu Yuan.
2009年9月，联合国教科文组织正式审议并批准中国端午节列入世界非物质文化遗产，成为中国首个入选世界非遗的节日。The September of 2009,UNESCO approved China's Dragon Boat Festival to be included in the world's intangible cultural heritage. Since then, the Dragon Boat festival joined China's first World Heritage festival.

龙船竞渡前，先要请龙、祭神。如今这些含有迷信色彩朗仪式已很少见，但在过去，人们祭祀龙神庙时气氛很严肃，多祈求农业丰收、风调雨顺、去邪祟、攘灾异、事事如意。
Dragon Boat
Before the Dragon boat competition starts, people will invite the dragon god. Now these contain superstition rites have been very rare, but in the past, people worship the temple of the Dragon atmosphere is very serious, many are usual for the agricultural harvest, good weather, or resist calamity, all evil spirits.
挂艾草与菖蒲
端午是入夏后第一个节日，气温上升，正是疾病多发的时期，所以在很多年前人们往往会在家门口挂几株艾草，由于艾草特殊的香味，人们用它来驱病、防蚊、辟邪。
Wormwood and Calamus Hang
The Dragon Boat Festival is the first holiday, temperature rise in the season. It is the disease prone period, so many years ago people tend to hang several strains of wormwood in the door, the wormwood special flavor, people use it to cure disease, mosquito, evil.
吃粽子
端午节吃粽子，这是中国人民的又一传统习俗。粽子，又叫“角黍”，每年五月初，中国百姓家家都要浸糯米、洗粽叶、包粽子，其花色品种更为繁多。
Zongzi Eating
It is another traditional custom for Chinese people to eat Zongzi on the Dragon Boat festival. Zongzi is also called Jiaoshu. Every year at the beginning of May, every Chinese will soak glutinous rice, wash thoroughly, and made various kinds of Zongzi.
